A collaborative arts event, Forward Motion Dance Company's annual show will shine with three performances showcasing the talents of Choreographer Tracey Varga.

Guest musicians performing live with the dancers are the NC Guitar Quartet featuring Justin Hoke, Robert Nathanson, Ed Stephenson, and Chris Wear in a premiere performance, with original costume designs from Rachael Goolsby and a stunning set design by local artist Kristin Gibson.  An encore performance returns with live music from cellist Jude Eden, and a premiere piece set to original music by Joe Cordaro.Returning this year is dance and film set to music composed and performed by William Paco Strickland and the Fabulous Flying Flamenco Brothers along with a film by Patrick Ogelvie. JASIRI (“Brave and Bold”), a piece that premiered at the 2014 North Carolina Dance Festival, represents “a cross-cultural celebration of dance from all corners of the globe" from musicians of Quango World Groove. A duet from last year’s The Big Readevent at Cameron Art Museum, "The Last Flapper”, celebrates the life of Zelda Sayre Fitzgerald.

Forward Motion Dance Company dancers performing are Ashley Barnes, Maggie Conti, James DeVita, Leslie Nifoussi, and Becky Spivey. Guest dancers are Bonnie Dixon, Lindsay Glazer, Rachael Goolsby, Linda Larson, Isabelle Mordecai, Daniel Smith, Rebecca Warfield, Elizabeth White and The Wilmington School of Ballet Modern-Jazz Dance class members, as well as teen dance students from DREAMS of Wilmington, The Dance Cooperative, The Dance Element, and The Wilmington School of Ballet. They will perform a new dance set to music by Paul McCartney from his 1986 release Press to Play, and their original costumes will add a brilliant touch with special lighting effects created by Lee Wainwright and Miko Green of Philadelphia, who are former Wilmington residents and worked with Tracey in the past for lighted costume design.

Expect an inspired and exciting evening of music, film, visual arts, and modern, contemporary and jazz dance from choreographer Tracey Varga and Forward Motion Dance Company.
